The Injector Dynamics Honda Talon/Pioneer Fuel Rail Kits come in three varieties and the instructions for each kit can be found below. The kits should be installed by a qualified technician and should only ever be attempted on a cold engine with ignition off. The first kit is designed around keeping the factory returnless configuration in place and will also use the OEM fuel injectors:
As you can see the rail is provided along with an EFI fitting that attaches to the factory pump outlet on the fuel tank, a line to connect this to the fuel rail, and the adapter tops which will need to be installed on the top of the OEM injectors. The 90* fitting on the fuel line will go on the fuel rail side and the straight hose end will secure on the pump outlet fitting. When installing the adapters on the injectors, and then the injectors in the rail and throttle body, it is recommended to lubricate the o-rings with something like WD-40. Once installation is complete make sure and prime the fuel system to check for leaks before operating the vehicle.
There are two different rail kits offered for using Injector Dynamics fuel injectors, one that mimics the returnless factory system, and one that converts your system to a return style. Neither kit comes standard with injectors, but the rail kits are the same for the ID1050-XDS, ID1300-XDS, ID1700-XDS, and ID2600-XDS and injectors can be added at the time of purchase. The returnless kit can be seen below:
The kit comes with an EFI fitting that attaches to the factory pump outlet on the fuel tank, and a line to connect this to the provided fuel rail and regulator assembly. The 90* fitting will go on the fuel tank side and the straight hose end will secure on the regulator. When installing the injectors it is recommended to lubricate the o-rings with something like WD-40. Once installation is complete make sure and prime the fuel system to check for leaks before operating the vehicle.
The return style kit is the most comprehensive to install and will require some irreversible modifications to the factory fuel pump hanger assembly. This kit can be seen below:
You will find a black rectangular component which will be used as a backing plate for the included 90* -06AN bulkhead which will serve as the return fitting between the fuel rail and the fuel tank. The triangle portion of this backing plate locates inside of the webbing structure on the fuel hat assembly.
With the backing plate in place you will need to drill a hole for the bulkhead to pass through. A raw finished round bushing has been provided with a pilot hole as a guide. Drill the pilot hole, then open the hole up to 9/16". The bulkhead can now be installed and secured with the provided sealing gasket and nut. The fuel pump hanger assembly can now be reinstalled.
An IACV block off plate and barbed fitting is provided and mounts on the factory throttle body assembly as seen below:
The provided 4mm silicone hose will install on the barb and to the top of the regulator assembly, and cable ties are provided to keep the hose secure on the barbs.
When installing the injectors in the provided fuel rail and throttle body assembly, it is recommended to lubricate the o-rings with something like WD-40. The provided 47" line with a 90* and straight hose end fitting will run on the feed side, and the 90* fitting will be on the fuel pump outlet, with the straight end on the regulator. The other line will have a 45* and straight hose end. The 45* hose end will be on the fuel rail side and the straight end will run to the newly installed return bulkhead.
Once installation is complete make sure and prime the fuel system to check for leaks before operating the vehicle. If you have any other questions please email us at support@injectordynamics.com or call us at 214-607-9022.
